This is my Daemon Prince of Nurgle.
For those of you who are not familiar with the Warhammer 40,000 universe, a Daemon Prince is a man, or more specifically, a Space Marine (the good guys in massive futuristic suits of armour) who has dedicated himself to 'The Ruinous Powers' (the bad guys), and after gaining the favour of his patron god, Nurgle in this case, has been 'gifted' with heinous powers and mutations that have made him grow hideously out of proportion and gain massive strength in the process.
Now the good part. Nurgle is the embodiment of disease and deterioration, the elemental forces that hold in check the energies of progress and evolution. There exists within every mortal the desire to let all around him rot, and to exult in the processes of disease and decomposition. That desire is where "Grandfather Nurgle" finds his way into mortal minds.
The result of this, is that Nurgles followers become feotid, disgusting desease-ridden vessels dedicated to spreading the plagues and viruses they carry. In return, Nurgle provides them with 'immunity' to these sicknessess, although the carriers become bloated and display all the symptoms. Because of all of this, i have painted my Daemon Prince to look as abhorrent and as peverted as these gifts would entail.
cheers i must admit though, most of the tones on this model were made with inks, but they're so fun to use and make this fella' look so burgly i couldnt stand not to
thanks about the sword took me many tries to get the right effect of coverred in disease ridden dried on blood, rust, and nurgly goo

Very nice. I like the details of putrid, bloating flesh. Awesome colors. I would play Chaos in 40k, but I already play Chaos in Fantasy (that was in fact my very first army period). Though I do love Grandfather Nurgle, I must go with the Blood God Khorne for his depravity and bloodlust.
Still, very nice work on the model.

For the Greater Good! "'Then it should be simple,' Ikmennedies said. 'All you have to do is cut the red [wire].' 'They're both purple,' I said after a moment's inspection." -Commissar Ciaphas Cain, The Traitor's Hand
Haha, well the main reason i went Nurgle was that eveyone ever follows The Blood God, and i decided i wanted to go for something different... and as i see very few Death Guard army, i felt it was the natural choice ^_^
Also reading Galaxy In Flames (the 3rd book in the Horus Heresey series, which i might add are DAMN good) helped a tad

Galaxy in Flames is awesome. I especially liked it when the Emperor's Children dreadnaught was standing on the hill when the virus bomb hit. Very grim storytelling. Plus the Death Guard just being so full of, well, not wanting to die was very cool.

Yeah, that Moment with the Dreadnought was so badass i could barely contain myself.
And again, yeah, the Death Guard were described so well. That entire section of the book where the Loyalists are defending themselves againts the Traitors is amazingly written up, great storytelling. Got 3 things to say:
Loken you legend!
Damn you Erebus! Damn you to Hell!
Lucius you backstabbing prick!
And lastly, i cant wait for Flight of the Eisenstein to arrive, i preordered it weeks ago.... it just cant get here quick enough

its actually quite easy, first paint the metal areas in Boltgun Metal, and once thats dried, cover that in chestnut ink. It helps to water it down abit the first few times you do it so you get to understand how it works. the blade took quite afew coats because the ink wouldnt stick to it very well
